Who we are
Bowmont Land ("Bowmont", "we") is a strategic land promotion practice working in England. Bowmont Land is operated by [legal entity name, company number and registered address to be confirmed before launch]. For anything in this policy, write to enquiries@bowmontland.co.uk. Bowmont is the data controller for the information described here.
What we collect, and why
When you run the Land Potential Check, we collect:
- your email address, so the read can be sent to you and we can follow up personally;
- the location you give us: a postcode, a map pin, a what3words address or an OS grid reference, plus any optional address line, so the read describes the right land;
- your IP address, used only to limit each connection to five checks a day and to protect the service from abuse.
When you email us or use the contact page, we hold what you send us and use it to reply. We do not buy data about you, we do not sell data about you, and we do not use your details for advertising.
Where your location goes
Producing a read means asking national data services about the point you gave us. The location (never your email address) is sent to: postcodes.io for geocoding, planning.data.gov.uk (MHCLG), Environment Agency and Natural England services for the planning and environmental layers, and what3words only when you enter a what3words address. If you open the map, the map tiles load from OpenStreetMap's servers, which see your IP address like any image you load; their use is covered by the OSM Foundation privacy policy.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare hosts the site, provides security including the Turnstile bot check, and sees traffic in the way any host does.
- Resend delivers our email, so it processes your email address and the content of the read.
- Google provides analytics, and only runs if you allow analytics cookies. See the cookie policy.
How long we keep things
Land Potential Check submissions are kept while a conversation about the land could reasonably follow, and reviewed for deletion after 24 months. Email correspondence is kept for as long as the relationship it belongs to. Security logs are short-lived.
Our legal bases
We rely on legitimate interests to produce and send a read you asked for, to follow it up, and to protect the service from abuse. Analytics runs only with your consent. Where we hold correspondence about a potential agreement, that is preparation for a contract.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to our use of it, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to enquiries@bowmontland.co.uk and you will get an answer from a person, not a form. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
The site sets almost none. The full list, including the single analytics cookie that asks your permission first, is in the cookie policy.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it and significant changes will be flagged on this page.
